Circuit training - hill runs

Circuit training is a great way to stay in a serious calorie-burning intensity while having fun. Today we warmed-up doing circuits of the dojo - jogging, side-stepping, backwards and so on. [The video is from another session.]
Followed by a lot of speed ladder work - which keeps my heart rate nice and high especially the push-up jumps along the ladder! That was followed by a series of exercises that included throwing a squidgy 8 kg medicine ball; jump-pressing with a 10 kg medicine ball; and side twists and “wood chops” with the same ball. Push-up jumps on-and-off a ball and side-to-side press-ups over the ball. Swiss ball exercises with a step, and Turkish get-ups with 2x3 kg dumbbells to finish. Repeat four more times for good measure. You can see my heart rate records below.

Then off to the great day outdoors for some hill sprints. You can see the six heart rate peaks on the right. The other members did ten sprints. Total calories used - about 1,100, and you can’t dispute the cardiovascular training effect. Magic!
